DASY8/6 Module WPT V2.6: Testing for Compliance with Basic Restrictions at Frequencies <4 MHz

In response to feedback from ISED and the FCC as well as from our customers, we have further refined our MAGPy product line to make it compatible with global requirements for demonstrating compliance of wireless power transfer systems with the basic restrictions and reference levels.

Over the last few months, our intensive exchanges with Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada and the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have guided us in updating the procedures and software to make DASY8/6 Module WPT V2.6 compatible with all known worldwide requirements, including the soon-to-be-released IEC/IEEE 63184 standard.

DASY8/6 Module WPT V2.6 provides the following main new features:

  • improved data transfer between the MAGPy probe and the PC
  • improved auto-extend mode: (i) minimal extend, (ii) handling of low signals, and (iii) partial measurements can now be resumed
  • a new frequency filter feature to remove undesired frequencies, e.g., due to noise, from the multi-frequency exposure assessment
  • evaluation results for different limits, e.g., nerve stimulation or thermal effects
  • fine-tuned result tables that are easier to interpret

Today, the best choice for testing compliance with basic restrictions (Tier 4) in terms of induced electric field and specific absorption rate (SAR) is DASY8/6 Module WPT V2.6 for frequencies <4 MHz; at frequencies ≥4 MHz, the best choice is DASY8/6 Module SAR. Both systems are simple to set up, fast, comprehensive, robust, accurate with minimal overestimation, and produce reports that can be directly submitted to the authorities.

Details can be found in the updated application notes:

  • Testing Compliance of WPT Devices with DASY8/6 Module WPT V2.6+ according to ISED SPR-002 Issue 2
  • Testing Compliance of WPT Devices with DASY8/6 Module WPT V2.6+ according to FCC KDB 680106 D01 v04

Also updated is the handheld MAGPy V2.6 system, which now includes the harmonized safety limits issued by ISED and FCC for frequencies <100 kHz. Data transfer and other minor issues have also been addressed. MAGPy V2.6 is known to be the most accurate system for measurements of incident fields and is compliant with the IEC/IEEE 63184 standard for Tier 3 evaluations.

Kind regards,

Your DASY Team
