DASY8 Module SENS

DASY8 Module SENS is used for the characterization of wireless devices that make use of sensor-based dynamic power control. The high positional accuracy of the DASY8 robot enables fast and accurate measurements of motion and proximity sensors. In combination with the high temporal resolution of the cSAR3D system, DASY8 Module SENS enables the use of such sensors for characterization of dynamic power control for electromagnetic field (EM) measurement.

DASY8 Module SENS uses the same hardware as DASY83D (DASY8 Module c3D). It is therefore fully compatible for integration with other DASY8 and cSAR3D modules and is available for existing DASY83D systems with only a software upgrade.

The user interface is a Jupyter-Notebook-based application that supports fully automated testing of devices with proximity sensors and motion sensors on cSAR3D for measurement of both static and time-averaged specific absorption rate (SAR). The software records the position of the device under test (DUT) as well as the SAR over time.

System

DASY8 Module SENS uses the same combination of the DASY8 robot and cSAR3D system introduced in the c3D module for automated SAR measurement. The platform accommodates a phantom slot for SAR, a free space phantom slot, and three cSAR3D systems. The user interface has been designed for an efficient workflow to characterize proximity and motion sensor-based dynamic power control.

Applications

The DASY8 Module SENS enables dynamic precision device positioning over the cSAR3D phantoms to obtain position and SAR data over time.

In combination with the SAR-measurements by cSAR3D, the system correlates motion and SAR data for the characterization of dynamic power control. The system can be used purely as a positioner to allow for correlation of the motion data over time to custom logs. 

Add-On c3D Platform

The specific Add-On c3D platform includes:

  • DUT pick-up station
  • cSAR3D mounting structure for precise positioning of cSAR3D Right Head, Left Head, and Flat phantoms
  • Cabinet for DASY8 robot controller
  • c3D cabinet for the Robobox and the base station simulator

Module c3D Software

The software for DASY8 Module SENS includes two graphical user interfaces:

  • Module SENS: graphical user interface for control of all robot movements and cSAR3D measurements; runs on Jupyter Notebook in an Electron application.
  • cSAR3D Software: graphical user interface for creation of measurement projects and performance of SAR measurements
  • cSAR3D API V2: interface to control cSAR3D measurement functions externally (outside of cSAR3D graphical user interface)

Upgrade Any MP8I-TX2-90XL system can be upgraded. DASY83D systems can be upgraded with only a software update.
