cDASY6.6 Beta-Release

cDASY6.6 Beta-Release – SPEAG Reaches Next Milestone

DASY6, SPEAG’s advanced specific absorption rate (SAR) measurement system, has been rapidly adopted by the testing industry for the demonstration of SAR compliance (e.g., FCC ID: PD99461NG). To date, more than 100 DASY6 systems have been installed worldwide.

In our strive to offer maximum benefit to our customers, we have reached another important milestone with the release of cDASY6.6, the latest DASY6 software: it is not only faster and more automated, but also fully supports SAR testing in any phantom, even in spatially confined volumes (e.g., in case of a wrist phantom or inside the nose and eye region of a facedown phantom). Furthermore, it offers a new, very effective, and accurate full volume SAR evaluation that simplifies and reduces the overestimation when assessing the exposure of simultaneously transmitting wireless devices! Most importantly, cDASY6.6 makes the system fully compatible with the latest standard draft IEC 62209-U.

Specifically, the new key features are:

  • Accurate psSAR1g/10g in any phantom, including the wrist phantom;
  • Novel Fast Volume Scan to assess psSAR1g/10g distributions and the total absorbed power within the entire phantom;
  • Advanced export function to generate a summary table from the measured data;
  • Improved base station simulator implementation with more robust LTE inter-band handovers and support of 2x2 MIMO downlink antenna configurations.

The new release further provides many other improvements which make the software more flexible and easier to use. Feedback, as always, is greatly welcome!

Effective Measurements in any Specific Phantom

The general implementation of accurate and effective measurements in any specific phantom, which also has features of spatially confined volumes, was more demanding than initially predicted. We are proud to announce, however, that we achieved the necessary breakthrough in the technological development as demonstrated for the narrow wrist phantom (see below). To achieve the necessary precision for the 1g and 10g-averaged values, we have advanced the field reconstruction technology originally developed for our fast vector array system cSAR3D. The solution can be developed for any custom-made phantom and all of them can be easily integrated into the system.

Integration of Fast Volume Scan

cDASY6.6 features the “Fast Volume Scan”. This novel scan type is used to assess the psSAR1g/10g distributions inside the entire phantom. For this, 3D measurements are performed over the user specified volume. An advanced extrapolation algorithm then computes the SAR at the phantom surface. The Fast Volume Scan is compatible with the IEC 62209-U standard with a measurement time lower than a regular DASY52 area scan! It simplifies compliance testing of devices transmitting on multiple frequency bands simultaneously.

Easier Reporting with Advanced Table Generator

Another major new feature in cDASY6.6 is the advanced “Table Generator” that exports the measurement data into multiple tables (SAR measurement, system performance checks, device under test description). The table can be fully customized to adjust to any table template used by test labs. Additional options have been implemented to further filter and sort the exported data. The Table Generator dramatically reduces the time required for the generation of SAR compliance reports.

Improved Base Station Simulator Integration

The Base Station Simulator Integration has been also greatly improved. The new implementation increases the robustness of the inter-band LTE handovers independently from any communication system. Automated calls are now also available for downlink 2x2 MIMO antenna configurations.
