DASY8 Module SENS: Redefining Time-Averaged Proximity Sensor Evaluation!

Proximity sensors are vital components in today’s mobile wireless devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. These sensors enable devices to optimize transmission power when not in close contact with the body, enhancing connectivity while keeping electromagnetic exposure within safe limits.

With recent regulatory changes introducing time-averaging and the increasing sophistication of proximity sensors and their applications, there is a pressing need for advanced test systems that can accurately assess these sensors in realistic use scenarios.

As pre-announced in March, we are excited to release DASY8 Module SENS V1.0β, a streamlined, automated, yet flexible system designed for standardized testing, validating, and challenging the proper functioning of proximity sensors. The innovative implementation is built on the research findings of the TyProxi project, conducted by the IT’IS Foundation and Semtech and cofinanced by the Swiss Innovation Agency InnoSuisse, ensuring cutting-edge accuracy and reliability in assessing sensor performance.

Key features of DASY Module SENS V1.0β:

  • Supports both time-averaged and legacy non-time-averaged sensors
  • Includes a precision gripper for automated accurate device positioning
  • Provides real-time SAR readings based on time and separation distance
  • Allows seamless integration with other DASY8 modules (based on DASY83D hardware)

Check out this user video to see the new module in action. The video demonstrates its capabilities with both legacy and new time-averaged proximity sensor phones.

DASY8 Module SENS V1.0β integrates with other DASY8 modules and features real-time transmitted power monitoring, essential for assessing radiofrequency exposure levels. Fully compliant with all relevant international standards and national regulations – including ISED Notice 2020-DRS0007, FCC KDB 447498, IEC TR 63424-1, and both the current and forthcoming amendments to IEC/IEEE 62209-1528 – DASY8 Module SENS is now available and will revolutionize the industry.
