SPEAG provides high-precision measurement solutions for exposure evaluation and compliance testing where traditional instruments are not good enough and prevent innovations. Until now, it was impossible to carry out reliable in situ compliance testing in the close near field of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems or near high-current industrial installations – in these cases, the reference limits are exceeded by several factors but the systems are still compliant with the relevant safety regulations as the induced fields are much below the limits defined by the basic restrictions.
To provide a solution to this problem, we have spent the last few years developing the Magnetic Amplitude and Gradient Probe System (MAGPy) for in situ compliance evaluations of WPT systems and any other strong magnetic near-field sources operating at frequencies of between 3 kHz and 10 MHz with respect to reference levels and basic restrictions. The probe is constructed of (i) 24 small (1 cm2) time-domain loop sensors that are arranged on the corner of a cube to determine the magnetic (H/B-) field amplitude and gradient and (ii) two dipole sensors and a monopole sensor to measure the electric (E-) field amplitude simultaneously.
MAGPy V1-0 is the most accurate device for measuring the local H/B-field, the H/B-field gradient and the E-field. Most importantly, it is the first device available on the market that empowers users to demonstrate compliance with the basic restrictions, i.e., the induced E-fields, current density, and specific absorption rate (SAR) in the human body (bystanders or users). At the same time, it also allows the evaluation of the incident fields, i.e., the reference levels.
MAGPy V1-0 allows compliance testing of devices with current guidelines regarding exposures of the general public and occupational exposures, including: IEC/IEEE 63184 PAS, FCC, ICNIRP 1998, ICNIRP 2010, IEEE C95.1 2005, EU Directive 2013, HC Code 6, BGV B11, and 26.BlmSchV.
MAGPy V1-0 is the only handheld instrument for precise measurements in the near field of sources:
MAGPy V1-0 is optimized for in situ exposure and compliance evaluations at any location, including:
The system will be commercially released on March 2, 2021 and can be ordered now.
