Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Adopts the Indian Standard for Mobile Phone Handsets: Safety Requirements: IS16333 (Part 1):2015

BIS, the National Standards Body of India, has adopted Standard IS16133 (Part1):2015. The standard deals with the safety requirements of mobile phone handsets and includes definitive requirements for specific absorption rate (SAR), restriction of hazardous substances compliance, battery safety, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) and compatibility (EMC), radiofrequency (RF), protocol, and electrical safety testing.

The standard lays down a limit of 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1 g of tissue. SAR measurements are to be carried out in accordance with the IS / IEC 62209-1 standard.

DASY52 and cDASY6 systems are fully compliant with the requirements. The reference laboratory of the Department of Telecommunications, Govt. of India uses the DASY52 system.
