IPD/APD Validation Sources

Validation Sources: 6.5 – 90 GHz

IEC/IEEE 63195-1 and IEC/IEEE 63195-3 have defined a series of complex validation sources to demonstrates that the measurement system can resolve the distribution at close distances.

CDA (Cavity-fed Dipole Array)

Description

Cavity-backed array of dipoles arranged in an offset lattice according to the modes generated into the resonant cavity. The dipoles are printed onto one face of a low-loss dielectric substrate and excited by non-resonant rectangular slots located on the opposite face of the substrate.

Models

  • CDA10 (10 GHz)
  • CDA15 (15 GHz)
  • CDA20 (20 GHz)
  • CDA30 (30 GHz)
  • CDA45 (45 GHz)
  • CDA60 (60 GHz)
  • CDA90 (90 GHz)

Standard Compatibility

  • IEC/IEEE 63195-1
  • IEC/IEEE 63195-3

Calibration

  • psIPD (Incident Power Density) for 10 - 90 GHz
  • psAPD (Absorbed Power Density) for 10 - 45 GHz

HSA (Horn-loaded Slot Array)

EFA (End-Fire Antenna)

Description

The end-fire antenna is a quasi-Yagi antenna. The antenna is operated in two orientations: parallel (EFA-p) and orthogonal (EFA-o) to the (virtual) phantom

Models

  • EFA10 (10 GHz)
  • EFA15 (15 GHz)
  • EFA20 (20 GHz)
  • EFA30 (30 GHz)
  • EFA45 (45 GHz)

Standard Compatibility

  • IEC/IEEE 63195-1
  • IEC/IEEE 63195-3

Calibration

  • psIPD (Incident Power Density) for 10 - 45 GHz
  • psAPD (Absorbed Power Density) for 10 - 45 GHz

Patch

Description

The patch antenna consists of a square patch element on a square dielectric substrate over a ground plane. The patch is fed offset from the center by a 50 Ω coaxial feed line that is connected to the ground plane. A pin from the inner conductor of the coaxial feed line extends through the dielectric substrate to the patch element.

Models

  • P6500 (6.5GHz)

Standard Compatibility

  • IEC/IEEE 63195-1
  • IEC/IEEE 63195-3

Calibration

  • psIPD (Incident Power Density) at 6.5 GHz
  • psAPD (Absorbed Power Density) at 6.5 GHz
