Generic forearm phantom for evaluation and optimization of the OTA performance of smart watches and other wireless wrist-worn devices

shown in figure together with SHO-V3RP/LP and SHO-V3RW-C/LW-C hand phantoms

Construction

Forearm phantom:

manufactured from a silicone-carbon-based mixture (color:Black) with material properties according to CTIA definitions for hand phantoms; supported by a conductive inner skeleton providing a conductive connection to the hand phantom; a special low-loss silicone coating is applied to mmW-RFP/LFP-V2 that extends the frequency range beyond 100 GHz

 

V3 positioning spacers:

thin grid of 3 mm thickness made of low-loss plastic (dielectric constant <5.0, loss-tangent <0.05)

Frequency Range

SHO-RFP/LFP-V2:           0.3 – 3 GHz
mmW-RFP/LFP-V2:  3 to >100 GHz (note special handling instructions)

Compatibilities

Compatible with all of SPEAG's SHO- and mmW-SHO- hand phantoms

Compatible with the hand-only testing fixture SHO-FX-V5
