5G Validation Sources

Validation Sources: 10 – 90 GHz

IEC/IEEE 63195 has defined a series of complex validation sources to demonstrates that the measurement system can resolve the distribution at close distances.

Cavity-fed Dipole Array

Description

Cavity-backed array of dipoles arranged in an offset lattice according to the modes generated into the resonant cavity. The dipoles are printed onto one face of a low-loss dielectric substrate and excited by non-resonant rectangular slots located on the opposite face of the substrate.

Specifications

Cavity-backed array of dipoles:

Mechanical tolerance dipole & slots

  • Width/length: ±0.05 mm (30 GHz)
  • Width/length: ±0.02 mm (60 GHz)
  • Width/length: ±0.01 mm (60 GHz)

Mechanical tolerance slots

  • Relative position: ±0.05 mm (30 GHz)
  • Relative position: ±0.02 mm (60 GHz)
  • Relative position: ±0.01 mm (90 GHz)

Substrate tolerances

  • Thickness: ±0.05 mm (30 GHz)
