Flexibility and Precision


The new DAK software version 2.0 is avaliable since May 2015 and a standard component of the DAK deliveries. The DAK v2.0 software is based on the latest technologies and utilizes modern programming tools. Valuable customer feedback and our growing knowledge and experience with DAK resulted a completely rewritten software, which offers a more open and flexible structure, greater user experience, and improved functionality. A new, customizable GUI, faster VNA control, data acquisition, and calculation of dielectric parameters give our customer a robust, reliable product. The v2.0 software runs on 64-bit Windows operating systems (7, 8, 8.1 and 10).


DAK is designed to measure the dielectric properties of homogeneous and isotropic liquid, solid, and semi-solid materials. The sample volume should be large enough to ensure that reflections at the sample boundaries do not significantly influence the measurements. The minimum sample volume depends on the frequency, probe size, and dielectric parameters.

For data acquisition and visualisation the same graphical user interface is used for DAK, DAKS, and DAK-TL. For the measurement of thin layers, e.g., plastics and thin films, we developed enhanced algorithms which take into account the limited thickness of the material under test. 

VNA control and data acqusition is different in the case of DAK-TL . For DAK-TL the software needs complex reflection coefficient data, e.g., S11.

Software Features

Computer requirements: 

  • The software must run on an external computer, not on the VNA.
  • Intel Core2 Duo 2.3 GHz CPU (or AMD equivalent).
  • 4 GB of RAM.
  • dedicated 3D accelerated graphics display adapter card with at least 128 MB of on-board memory that supports the latest OpenGL drivers (v3.2 or higher). (Note: graphics cards of the AMD Radeon™ HD 7500M/7600M Series must run on the latest driver version.) 
  • Operating system: Windows 10, Windows 8 and 8.1, or Windows 7. Windows 8.1 is recommended. The software v2 is running only on 64 bit Windows operating system.
  • A display with 32-bit color depth and a resolution of 1280 × 1024 pixels or better  (optimum size: 1920 × 1200 pixels).
